Easter blessings to you!

One of my favourite times of the year is Easter. To me it means love, agape love (selfless love), hope and my reason for living an abundant life because of the sacrifice Jesus paid for me. It's a time of year which coincides with spring, which signals new beginnings and a fresh start. I get so excited when Easter arrives, and we can reflect on all that is good in our lives, and spend time with our loved ones. And, we do have fun indulging in a few traditions over this weekend! To kick things off, we make a few new additions to our Easter decorations stash. This year we decoupaged some plastic eggs, using old recycled pages about the story, the real meaning of  Easter.

We then decorated them with some ribbon and flowers...

We also made some large ones, which the children  personalised with stickers...

And here they are as part of our Easter vignettes...

I decorated an old baking tray with a few touches of spring...

And so the decorating is done. You will notice that there isn't a chocolate egg in sight...just yet...

The Easter bunny hasn't come to our house yet, but he never disappoints. He always pays a visit in time for the kidlets to wake up to a scattering of eggs on Easter Sunday.

Bits and bobs, and wire...

For the last two days I have felt a little out of sorts. This normally happens when I get swamped with all the jobs I need to do, and I feel completely overwhelmed. It's frustrating knowing what needs to be done, but not quite knowing where to start. So, as per normal, I ignore mundane jobs and do something a little more creative. Yesterday I decided to strip a lamp of it's very shiny red shade. I originally bought it because I liked the base, but the shade was a little on the loud side for my taste! Instead of making a fabric shade, I tried something completely different and used wire. I used the original framework, and attached wire to it, and I'm quite pleased with my new quirky lamp. It now has pride of place on my sewing desk.

The plus side to a lamp like this as opposed to one with a more traditional shade, is that it gives optimum light fot all those late night sewing projects!

Whenever there is a new addition to my work space, it prompts me to have a good old tidy. So, a little more order at last!

A little shelf in our bedroom did undergo a little tweaking too...

Some vintage sewing cotton reels sit alongside a vintage tape measure, ruler and hosiery elastic, and a little boat called 'Hope'...

I used to love paper dolls as a little girl, and not much has changed! The Tilda cupcake pin cushion was one of my very first attempts at sewing.

Good things come to those who wait...

Today was one of those perfect, lazy, hazy Sundays. We have really been blessed with picture perfect days this week, days that make you feel happy to be alive! You all know by now that I revel in a spot of thrifting, and this weekend I indulged in this little pleasure for the first time after a long, cold, bootsale barren winter! And a successful day it was. Here are a few of my happy finds...

Enid Blyton's Gift Book of Bedtime Stories, printed in 1978 and in immaculate condition...I have a soft spot for both Enid and children's books...

My favourite purchase of the day! A 1950's Comet children's sewing machine. A little rusty in places, but full of charm and history...

Of course thrifting isn't something that I only do at bootsales and thrift shops. To me it is a way of life, perhaps born out of necessity as we all have to watch our pennies very carefully these days! I have had my eye on a set of ceramic cherry canisters for quite some time now. I wasn't willing to pay the full price set by the very greedy supermarket giant, so I've been waiting patiently in the hope that they will be reduced at some point. Imagine my delight when I discovered them on the clearance shelf this week! Instead of paying the full price of £7.15 each, I got them for a mere £1.79 each! Bargain! 

Good things really do come to those who wait...
