Happy new year my lovelies! Firstly, thank you all for sharing and looking in on my blog, for your warmhearted comments, and the love and support you have shown me over this past year. I have enjoyed every exchange, and meeting every single one of you, albeit only in the vast expanse of the internet! Did you enjoy seeing in 2013? I must admit that I felt a little deflated this year...For the past four years we have hosted a little soiree with friends at our home, but this year hubby had to work, and in need of a little rest we decided to give it a miss. But, I spent it in the company of friends nonetheless, and we welcomed the new year on a cheery note!

Now, do you have any new year's resolutions? Or do you think that they are just a waste of time? I always find myself a little reflective on the first of January, taking stock of the past, and thinking what it is that I would like to change, what I'd like to achieve and which dreams I'd like to see realising on the blank page of another year. This year I feel a real buzz and excitement for what is to come. I look back at 2012, and see it as my 'year of mountaineering'! No, I haven't donned toe picks, and I most certainly haven't scaled Everest, but at times I have felt that I've reached the summit, just to discover that I'm only at Base Camp! Our lives have been challenging in so many ways, personally, professionally, financially, and our faith has been tested! But, regardless, I can see the many blessings that have come our way too, in ALL those areas, and for this I'm grateful.

So, 2013...what do hold in store for me? Well, I'm giddy with excitement, because we'll be re-united with our family in South Africa for a blissful four weeks, for the first time in nine years! We will get to hug old family members, and meet new ones for the very first time! Our hearts ache at times that we're so far apart from everyone, and this trip will be like manna from heaven!

Kwazulu Natal...can't wait to walk on South African soil again!

As far as setting goals for the new year is concerned, yes, I have a few...

'Variety is the spice of life'...so, I intend to expand my cooking repertoire!
Yes, we love food. But, sometimes I get in a rut with cooking the same old dishes over and over again. This year I want to try new things, but also get back in touch with my South African roots to revive old favourites! One mission in particular: To perfect the South Sfrican koeksister!

Ahem...on that note...
I intend to expand my cooking repertoire...NOT my waistline!
My 'New Year's Aspiration's List' will be incomplete without the old 'eating more healthy and getting fitter' objective! I'm not getting younger, and I know that I need to be kinder to the vehicle which my soul has been given! So, three cheers to the treadmill, and a hip-hip-hooray for my five-a-day! Not To Self: Must finish off the 'Quality Street' choccies from Christmas first though...don't want any distractions!

My 'More' List...
Laugh more...
Dance more...
Pray more...
Play more...
Sew more...
Blog more..More vintage loveliness!
...and MORE 'Granny Chic' goodness!

My 'Less' List...
Less 'me'...more Him...
Less worrying...it's pointless.
Less fighting...more loving!
Less sitting...more doing.

Keep it simple. Be spontaneous. Remind myself that a life of balance is a healthy life, and...

What are your goals and aspirations for 2013? I'd love to hear from you!
I wish you all the very best for this new year! May you love and be loved!
Blessings, Tania ♥

  3. What a lovely, reflective post and way to corral some of your plans, dreams, and goals for the coming year. I've never been a big New Year's resolution person myself, as I've always just made changes or set new goals in my life as the occasion arose. That said there are always things that I hope to do more (or less) of in the coming year, as well as others that I plan to keep going strong from the previous year.

Wishing you a joyful New Year's Day and all the very best with your plans for 2013, dear gal!
