A little bit of critter whimsy!

Hello my lovelies! Finally, a little bit of sewing has happened...The dusty cloggs of my Elna have been taken for a cheerful bit of stitch-stitching down makey-do-lane! I am re-discovering my making-mojo, and a silly bit of critter whimsy has come to life. I love creating one-off fabric pictures to adorn bare walls. My portfolio is growing. It started with 'The Princess and the Pea'...

Then followed 'Wash Day'...

And who doesn't like beach huts?
'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside'!

Then, a teeny tiny mouse in a tea cup...
'Peek-a-boo'

All of the above have gone to good homes...They have found a little corner to brighten up, and hopefully, bring lots of lovely cheer to it's inhabitants.

Now, there is another...A little bit of critter whimsy...

For now, it's happily sitting on the shelves of Etsy...Maybe it will 'Fly' away, and find somewhere else to nest...

Blessings, Tania ♥

Buttons and pinnies!

Greetings sweet friends! Well, I am still here...I think...Sometimes it feels like I'm losing my head with all that needs doing at this time of year! But, there is always time for a little indulgent sewing time! Have you seen the new 'Granny Chic' book by Tif Fussell and Rachelle Blondel? I have finally got my mitts on a copy, and yes, I'm turning into a primate...lots of  'ooh-ooh' and  'aah's' induced by the sheer drool-worthy pages of this delightful book! I do love a bit of granny chic, and it marries well with my desire to be thrifty and crafty! The first project that I have tackled, inspired by the very lovely Dottie Angel, was a 'peachy perfect pinny'!

I used some favourite fabrics from my stash...old sheets, buttons, lace and some truly scrumptious bias binding...and a doily for granny chic goodness of course!

A perfectly useful pocket...

My new pinny...perfect for craft fairs me thinks!

Apart from pinning and sewing pinnies, I have also made a few more bits for the upcoming craft fairs, and also to sell on my Facebook page.

Vintage inspired button bouquet brooches...

I've got one last little project to share with you. I've been toying with this idea for some time, after seeing some origami dresses on Pinterest. I wanted to use fabric instead of paper to make a little framed picture. Such fun!

So, this is what have kept me from my blogging chair for the last week or so! What have you all been up to? Anything exciting? I can't wait to have a little time to sit with a warm cuppa, and to catch up with all the wonderful blogs out there that always cheer me, challenge me or inspire me! Do say hello! I'd love to hear from you!

Blessings, Tania ♥♥♥

'A change is as good as a holiday!'

They say a change is as good as a holiday. I think that even applies to small homely changes, like moving the furniture around, or changing the colour scheme of a room. We have lived in our home for nearly seven years now, and there is one wall that has looked the same for all that time. It's a tall wall, the wall that one faces as you walk up the stairs. Hubby has had a favourite fisherman's clock hung on that wall, and we adored it when we first bought it. However, as time passes, one gets tired of staring at the same old thing day in and day out. I, for one, definitely fancied a change. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my other half's beloved clock, but it does remind me of an English pub! So, I have taken it off the wall...brave, I know, as hubby might not approve of the change, but I'll remind him that I am the Homemaker...hee-hee...Thankfully, he lets me do whatever I want! After all, he has slept in a very feminine pink bedroom for most our married life, and hasn't complained too much!

Here is the old Fisherman's clock...

So for now it is 'auf wiedersehn', 'totsiens', goodbye to our little Huckleberry Finn...that's who this clock reminds me of. And the new wall?

A new clock found at a bargain price in the sale...

I loved the words on it...

Some flirty butterflies...
I made this after receiving a similar picture from a friend for my birthday, which has pride of place in our kitchen. I thought I'd have a go too...

And of course a cheeky little mouse in a tea cup! I made this a couple of weeks ago. He reminds of the nursery rhyme 'Hickory dickory-dock...' Maybe if he escapes from the tea cup, he'll be running up the clock!

And the new clock wall...Ta-dah! Let's hope hubby likes it. He hasn't seen it yet, but he will when he gets home from work! Fingers crossed...and toes...

Hope you're well wherever you are! Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings, Tania ♥

Wash Day...

To those of you living in the UK, you'll know that we've seen bucket loads of rain over the last couple of weeks. I really haven't bothered trying to be a 1950's starlet by pin curling my hair, as one step out the front door later, I would just look like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards. Wet, windy weather and curly hair is a very tricky combination! Not even an expertly wrapped headscarf would help! It has rained a lot, but I'm not complaining. Parts of the UK have been under a hosepipe ban, so we need it. They are showers of blessing! So, amidst what feels like the 40 days and 40 nights of Noah, I thought I'd make a cheerful collage as a reminder of hazy sunny days...you know, wash days, the kind where you can step outside with the laundry basket and peg it on the line whilst whistling 'Oh what a beautiful morning'!

A perfect wash day is my favourite kind of day. The sun shines down warm and bright, a little inoffensive breeze is blowing ever so gently through one's cotton dress, and cheer abounds everywhere! On such a day one can always hear the happy chatter of birds in the garden, and somewhere in the distance there is the productive humming of a lawnmower, eagerly chomping on the long grass that signals summer is here. Oh, I do love the smell of freshly cut grass! And of course, on such a day one can inhale the sweetness of honeysuckle and jasmine, or lingering lavender. It's a day when one truly feels happy to be alive, a day that calls for all the senses to be pleasured!

I dream of having a white goose (a friendly one!) in my garden, or a waddling duck...That would make my wash day picture perfect!

It is about 6:45am right now, I have not long got out of bed to the quiet of this Sunday, and guess what I can hear right now? The steady pitter patter of raindrops against the window! Well, today I can still sing 'Oh what a beautiful morning', just for different reasons. After all, summer wash days will get here...eventually!

Happy Sunday to you!
Blessings xxx
