Well, it's Saturday morning, and I'm feeling decidedly relaxed and content after a whirl of a transition from the old year into the new. 'Christmas' has been packed away, and I'm slowly getting the house tidied and sorted. I always try to add a little change to areas in our home after Christmas to spruce things up a bit, as the place always looks like it's been burgled after all the decorations are taken down! Empty... So, with my 'New Year's Aspirations' still fresh on my mind, and my love for all things 'Granny Chic', I have already set to work to 'spiffy-fy' things up around here, adding a few little touches of the 'Granny Chic' kind. I have already sung the praises of Tif and Rachelle's new book, and finished my first project from the book as shared in December
(Buttons and Pinnies). Today I'd like to share my second little 'tah-dah!' with you. Following instructions from the book to make 'a handy dandy fabric jar', I armed myself with empty pickle jars, fabric glue and strips cut from my favourite fabrics, just bits I had lying around. The idea is to glue the small strips of fabric loveliness to your clean, empty jar, and then you can add some doilies of the chic kind! Voila! Easy-peasy! Here are my jammy jars, created in a jiffy!
These jammy jars offer endless possibilities...
At present they grace our fireplace mantel as handy dandy candle candy...So pretty when lit!
But, I think they'd look equally radiant filled with fragrant flowers, or used as pen jars...maybe some knitting needles for true 'Granny Chic' splendidness?
The mantel has been re-dressed, and other than my new jars, I have also added these cuties. Thrifted from our local charity shop, this woodland take on the 'Babushka doll' was too darling to resist! They were a Christmas present to my eight year old, who loves 'all creatures great and small!'
A few more thrifted treasures...
A gorgeous Fiesta glass floral plate...thrifted at just £1!
Charming Royal Adderley bone chine posy...
And a cheery little cup and saucer...
My favourite teeny-tiny Staffordshire jug...
And so one corner is spruced up with a few of my favourites!
On to the next! Have a happy Saturday!
Tania ♥
Awwww, I absolutely adore your cuter-than-cute woodland nesting doll set. What an awesome thrift store find!

Hi Tania
ReplyDeleteI love your fabric jars, they are gorgeous, especially with candles in them. I got the granny chic book for Christmas and haven't had a chance to sit down with a cuppa and have a good squizz through...you have inspired me though and after being up i the attic sewing this morning, I might just get down to making some of these too xox We also packed away Christmas this morning but kept the fairy lights out for that cosy Winter feel. Happy 2013 by the way, wishing you and your family great blessings and love and light this year of 2013 xox Penelope
Hi Penelope! Ha! I also decided to keep the fairy lights out for a warm, cosy glow to cheer is up in this dreary weather! In fact, I moved some into the kitchen, and put them up above the kitchen cupboards, and it's so lovely! They will be staying there...forever! :) You will love the book...I keep looking at it, with lots of ideas brewing! Looking forward to seeing what you create! May you be blessed beyond your wildest dreams this year! Tania xxx
