Buttons and pinnies!

Greetings sweet friends! Well, I am still here...I think...Sometimes it feels like I'm losing my head with all that needs doing at this time of year! But, there is always time for a little indulgent sewing time! Have you seen the new 'Granny Chic' book by Tif Fussell and Rachelle Blondel? I have finally got my mitts on a copy, and yes, I'm turning into a primate...lots of  'ooh-ooh' and  'aah's' induced by the sheer drool-worthy pages of this delightful book! I do love a bit of granny chic, and it marries well with my desire to be thrifty and crafty! The first project that I have tackled, inspired by the very lovely Dottie Angel, was a 'peachy perfect pinny'!

I used some favourite fabrics from my stash...old sheets, buttons, lace and some truly scrumptious bias binding...and a doily for granny chic goodness of course!

A perfectly useful pocket...

My new pinny...perfect for craft fairs me thinks!

Apart from pinning and sewing pinnies, I have also made a few more bits for the upcoming craft fairs, and also to sell on my Facebook page.

Vintage inspired button bouquet brooches...

I've got one last little project to share with you. I've been toying with this idea for some time, after seeing some origami dresses on Pinterest. I wanted to use fabric instead of paper to make a little framed picture. Such fun!

So, this is what have kept me from my blogging chair for the last week or so! What have you all been up to? Anything exciting? I can't wait to have a little time to sit with a warm cuppa, and to catch up with all the wonderful blogs out there that always cheer me, challenge me or inspire me! Do say hello! I'd love to hear from you!

Blessings, Tania ♥♥♥

  2. I absolutely love the little origami dress framed. This year Christmas is super tight and I am trying to make as many things as possible for our daughters and this would be perfect for her dad (who spends hours doing origami) to make for her. I also love the apron/pinny! Just beautiful.

    1. Yip, we are also on a tight budget this Christmas, and I do think that being able to give handmade gifts is such a blessing! I for one love receiving something that someone has made themselves! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas together! Thanks for stopping by and for leaving lovely comments! Tania ♥

  3. Absolutely beautiful, wonderfully cheerful pieces. I adore the blue and pink floral fabric in the apron that you made. Take the pink out of it, increase the size of the roses, and that fabric is very similar one that my granny has a pair of curtains in up in a bedroom in her house that have been hanging there since the early 60s.

    1. Hello my lovely! Thank you for the lovely comment! I do love florals, and yes, these old sheets came up trumps! I'd love to take a peek at those curtains! I hope you are well, and enjoying the run up to Christmas? I am looking forward to all the craft fairs slowing down a bit (much as I love doing them!), so that I can sit down with a cuppa and read all on your blog...haven't had two minutes to do so! Keep well, and keep smiling! Tania ♥♥

  4. Tania, your makes are gorgeous! The pinny looks so well put together and detailed, and your buttons brooches are such a clever idea - I do love items with a colour theme. I love the Granny Chic book as well, I've been rationing myself to a few pages each night so I can savour all of the 'recipes'. Enjoy wearing your new pinny with pride.

  10. Absolutely fabulous projects - the apron is just too lovely for words; what did you fill the lovely little sachets with?

I have been busy putting up my garland & advent bits http://deeatthecarlton.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/counting-down-to-christmas.html

and baking some traditional crunchies to sustain the daughter while she studies for A-levels in January.
