Sewn with love

Some people go for a walk in the woods, some people meditate behind closed doors, some travel to faraway places...but I sew. This is what I do when I want to retreat into my own bubble of quietness. My dear companion that is my ever faithful Elna, has been put through her paces over the last ten years! From knocking up curtains, altering clothes to creating a little bit of whimsy for our home, she has performed with gusto!

From time to time I'd love to share with you some of the projects I've been working on. Here are a few that have traveled under the needle of my trusty friend!

The latest little project that I've completed, is a little cushion. I adore lace. If I could, I would drape everything with it's feminine loveliness. But, I have to restrain myself, as I run the risk of scaring hubby into a cave somewhere! A little goes a long way, doesn't it?

A while back I found some lovely lace doilies and handkerchiefs in a charity shop. I've used one of these to make a pretty little cushion to grace a chair in the living room. A little bit of cutting and appliqueing later, this was the result. What do you think?

My favourite time of year is Christmas. Every year I try to make something new to add some festive cheer. This was what I came up with last Christmas. (2010)
