Going Retro...on a budgie budget!

My wee man is growing up. He's started 'Big School', and that inevitably means that changes are coming! So, I figured that perhaps it was time to have a flurry of re-organisation in his bedroom too! It was in need of a little TLC, as it had become untidy, cluttered and a tad tired looking. Now, I'm not talking paint-brush-in-hand kind of changes, just teeny ones that make all the difference. It started with a shelf...Now, I don't think I'm the only fan of the Ikea Expedit furniture range. These shelves are clean in design and simplicity, they are sturdy and very practical, especially in little people's rooms! I acquired one second hand, and for pennies, so it was win-win! After a bit of sorting and shifting, our little guy's toys are tidy, easily accessible, and above all, easy to keep that way! I figured that the wall above needed a few fresh touches too, but I really didn't
want to break the bank doing it. I set to work today, and after scouring PINTEREST for free printable art, I have framed and hung some quirky art to brighten up his room. Here it is...Tah-dah!

Let's take a closer look...

Free printable from 'Sweetpress Studio'with a caption from one of our favourite films, 'The Lion King'...

Free retro printable alphabet from 'The Handmade Home' We picked our favourite four, and framed it in a recycled frame.

More freebies from 'The Handmade Home'...

The bike print can be found at 'Entirely Eventful Day'.
The headphones canvas was a High Street find from Wilkinson's...50p!

And lastly, a little obsession of mine...Moustaches! Found in Google images, I printed these, cut them out, mounted them to some 'old school' paper, and framed it...

And there you have it...A new retro inspired wall on a budgie budget, with printing costs and frames from budget stores, the whole project comes in at under a tenner! Happy days!

  1. Beautiful, timelessly fun proof positive that you can create absolutely awesome decor on a wisp of budget. I love interior design and home decor, but don't feel comfortable breaking the bank to adorn and furnish my house either.
