Spring and Birthdays

Well, it's been a while since I've grabbed hold of the old blogging pen, but inspiration has been few and far between. After all, I'd like you to read something inspiring, uplifting, insightful...think maybe I should just quit while I'm ahead...?

It's that time of year when everything seems to be in limbo. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring after spending what seems like an eternity wrapped up in fleece. I'm contemplating whether it's too early to turf out the leather boots in favour of my trusty plimsolls...The woolly tights I've been donning for the last couple of months are wearing thin on me...literally and figuratively speaking! Then again, I have a feeling the world is not yet prepared for the sight of my pasty white legs! (Thanks to my dear friend Dianne who pointed this out, but on this occasion I think I'd like to refer to it as 'pale and interesting'...Quote my other dear friend Fiona.)

As spring approaches, I'm planning a cull of my wardrobe. The rails are groaning under the weight of size 8...oh, alright then...size 10 jeans from a decade ago which I'm pretty sure will never hug my thighs again. I also think that it might be time to say farewell to the polkadot hotpants which I purchased in 1999...and never wore...and never ever will wear...ever. I have a feeling that I might burst a capillary if I even tried...

March is such a beautiful time of year. Crocuses and daffodils are bursting through the soil with the promise of sunny days on the horizon. It also rings in yet another birthday celebration for me....although the bells of joy are taking on the annoying sound of a steady ticking clock....with the promise of sagging, wrinkling and  shares in 'Nice and Easy...' But, I am probably the most blessed girl to have the most caring, loving circle of family and friends around me. They surround me with heartwarming love, a generosity of spirit and barrels full of side-splitting laughter. In fact, it's thanks to their generosity that I feel motivated to attack the old wardrobe with renewed vigour in order to make room for all the wonderful delights they have blessed me with on my birthday.

So, I'm armed with bin liners, sheer determination and the promise of a super organized boudoir...after all, I have to find space for the puff petticoat and 1950's dress that hubby treated me too...and the new shoes...and the handbag...amongst other things.  Happy days!

Thank you for lending me your ears, or eyes as it may be! I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment. Enjoy all the joys of spring!
