'It takes a big heart to help shape little minds'...

So, blue it is! The whole of the United Kingdom is making goo-goo, ga-ga noises at the wonderful news that the Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy today. So much speculation about whether the heir will be a he or a she, has preceded the arrival of Kate and William's little one. The majority of people banked on the new royal addition being a princess, but for once I placed my bets in a safe basket! And so, he's a prince! I think we'd all like to welcome the new baby, and I wish the Duke and Duchess all the very best as they embark on this journey called 'parenthood'!

Apart from keeping a close eye on the royal stork's schedule, I have also managed to do a little sewing. Ahem...note 'little'... I really ought to have done more by now, but with the end of the school year drawing in, many school assemblies and gatherings have been keeping me occupied. But, there WILL be more quality Elna time soon! Here's a little something I made today...for a special teacher...

This and that...and Watoto!

So, the last couple of days have been busy, busy, busy! I have done some more sewing, preparing for Mondays May Day Fayre, and that, together with keeping the kids in clothes and food,  and the household sorted (sort of!), I have not had much time to relax. Do mums ever really relax? After a busy day yesterday and some late night bonding with my trusty ms Elna, I decided to enjoy a little reading by candlelight, with a little tipple...Needless to say, I lazily scanned about two paragraphs before the sawing of logs commenced! Yes, I snore. Loudly! Always have done, but it really doesn't bug me. It's a good thing hubby is deaf in one ear...he never complains!

Getting to grips with a good book has had to take a bit of a back seat due to other demands. I think the only 'reading' I'm managing at the moment, is the odd flick through a magazine. My favourite at the moment for vintage style, is 'Vintage Life', and you're bound to find a copy on my bedside table!

Now, on a completely different note, I'd like to share something with you. On Sunday we had the privilege to watch the Watoto children's choir perform. These children have been orphaned by war, disease and have endured much. However, they have been rescued and adopted by the Watoto organisation, and are given opportunities in life to grow and become the leaders that they want to be, working towards a better future for themselves and their country of Uganda. I'll tell you one thing, their experiences are heart breaking, but to see the smiles on their faces, knowing that they have been saved by the grace of God, leaves one feeling deeply touched, and puts life into perspective. We have so much to be grateful for! If you've been a reader of my blog for some time now, you will know that we had the honour and privilege to have some of the children stay with us last year whilst on their UK tour, and they crept deep into my heart! The joy that pour from their souls are tangible! This time round they are spending a week in our neck of the woods, and they leave on Sunday to perform for none other than Her Majesty, the Queen, in a set of Jubilee celebrations that will be taking place. Wow! Here are some pictures from Sunday...

Affairs of the HE♥RT

As Valentine's day is fast approaching, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to talk hearts! I'm sure you all know by now that I'm partial to this symbol of love, and have quite a few dotted around the house. Today I thought I'd share some old ones, and some new ones that I have made to add some loving cheer to just about every nook and cranny in our house! Firstly, one I made today...

I painted a plain wooden heart using a stippling effect. Once it was dry I simply decorated it with some lace and transfers that I had in my scrapbooking stash. I added a button for a little dimension. Done!

I made this one a little while ago,  also using transfers. I did also use a stamp for the word 'Celebrate', and added some tiny gems...
